A future proof folder structure

The folder structure in Lightroom Classic is very important. This is because you will most commonly work with just one catalog for all your images (if you want to know, where I see exceptions, let me know in the comments below).

So to create a future-proof system, I would recommend to stay with year folders (YYYY) that contain inside a date and project name (YYYYMMDD project name) structure. So you see in a glance what’s inside which folder.
